Requirements for Volunteering with Children and Youth

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at OLV. Our ministries depend on parishioners sharing their time and talent. This page gives you an idea of volunteer opportunities along with important steps and information for becoming VIRTUS compliant (Archdiocese program for training and certifying adult volunteers).

Sunday Morning Religious Education Classes

  • Catechists & Co-Catechists
  • Substitute Catechists

Sacramental Preparation

  • Catechists (small group preparation for children & youth preparing for sacraments)
  • 1st Communion Preparation Retreat Teams

Catholic Youth Organization 

  • Coaches & Assistant Coaches 
    • cross-country (fall)

Child Safety

Volunteer Central
 

Volunteers who reach the age of 18  must be VIRTUS compliant to work with children and youth. Compliance requires a background check (at the parish) and succesful attendance and completion Child Protection Training. See links below for checklist, application and Training dates and time
